Art with a Heart: Young Artists Support Hope Happens

Kudos to 12-year-old Zoë Krause who persuaded her Ladue Middle School classmates to make Hope Happens a beneficiary of a week-long silent auction of their artwork displayed in Plaza Frontenac February 4-11. The event was highlighted by a reception for the artists, their parents, teachers and friends on February 7.

Zoë’s mother was a classmate of Chris Hobler at John Burroughs School. “Zoë got to know Chris through family interactions before he died,” Melissa Hagee Krause said. “Zoë also volunteered for fundraising activities Chris was involved with. She was determined to see that her classmates supported his work. She made a presentation and persuaded them to include Hope Happens.”

Why Hope Happens? “I think what strikes me most about Chris and The Hope Center is that Chris died of a terrible disease and he could have given up, but instead he decided to help others after he was gone, and we need to make sure that his dream isn’t wasted,” Zoë said. Very impressive words of wisdom from a 12-year-old!

The benefit raised some monies for Hope Happens, generated awareness about Hope Happens among the students and their families, and gave the students an opportunity to do something to help others in the community. That really is Art With A Heart.
