Hope Happens
Our Mission: To find a cure for ALS by funding progressive research and in the process create a new methodology for funding, researching and developing treatments for ALS and other neurological disorders.

Climb For A Cure - They Made It!

The climbers on the Hope Team were Jim Joyce, St. Louis Circuit Attorney Jennifer Joyce and Assistant Circuit Attorney Ed Postawko.

In September 2005, the Hope Team conquered Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, East Africa, the highest point on the continent. Their objective was to deliver a flag commemorating ALS victims Jeffrey Hilliard and Thomas Zipf, to Uhuru Peak, the roof of Africa . Their motivation was to raise money to fight the deadly disease that claimed their friends` lives. They raised over $7,500 for Hope Happens.

Jeff Hilliard was a colleague of Joyce and Postawko in the Office of the Circuit Attorney. Tom Zipf was a captain in the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department.

To climb to the summit requires about 45 miles of walking. As a result of the physical demands and the altitude, half of all people who attempt to climb Kilimanjaro fail to reach the summit. We congratulate the Hope Team for their great accomplishment!

In an effort to help find the cause and discover a cure for ALS, Jennifer, Ed and Jim wanted to do all they could to assist in ALS research. So rather than just taking a vacation, the Hope Team decided to raise as much money as possible to contribute to this cause. We truly appreciate their efforts.
