Hope Happens
Our Mission: To find a cure for ALS by funding progressive research and in the process create a new methodology for funding, researching and developing treatments for ALS and other neurological disorders.

Why a cross-disease and cross-discipline focus?

Our research funding philosophy is based on the idea that a discovery in one disease or discipline is likely to lead to a discovery in another. Thus, the Hope Center for Neurological Disorders brings together world-leading scientists and clinicians from 12 different Washington University departments whose expertise spans many different disciplines and diseases. Their common focus is on neurodegeneration (the death of brain cells), and they share a conviction that fundamental discoveries in one disease can lead to cures and treatments in a number of others. This cross-discipline and cross-disease strategy is unique, as is the “without walls” nature of our center.
